'ALMIGHTY' VOCALIST, RICKY WARWICK TURNS ACOUSTIC FOR NEW ALBUM WITH GLOBAL MUSIC Global Music is proud to announce the signing of Irish songwriting-legend, Ricky Warwick and the release of his new solo album, Belfast Confetti, out April 27th 2009. Born in Newtownards, Northern Ireland, Ricky received his first guitar at the tender age of 14: "That old, used guitar was more than just notes on a fret-board; it was the deepest breath of life I'd ever experienced. I felt like I was armed when I carried it and from then on I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Nothing was ever going to be the same again once I dragged my thumb across those strings." Although the founding member of Glasgow heavy metal band, The Almighty, and working with various other punk outfits, including Stiff Little Fingers, The Ruts and New Model Army, Ricky brazenly embarked on an acoustic solo career in 2002. Now his new album, Belfast Confetti, due out on April 27th 2009 on DR2 is a collection of gritty acoustic songs, full of passion, dirt, whisky and tales of a misspent youth in the land of the Emerald Isle. Ricky reflects: "I found myself looking deeper into the well for this record. Each song is not unlike a prayer. Belfast Confetti is a collection of stories, my own, my family's and my friends, most of whom are now scattered all over the world, but when talk turns to home, their eyes light up and the reminiscing begins." Ricky is planning to hit the road for a full touring schedule as soon as Belfast Confetti hits the shelves. However, even after sharing the stage with groups such as Alice In Chains, The Ramones, Metallica, Cheap Trick, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Def Leppard over the many years, Ricky has earned his salt engaging large crowds with performances that are captivating and intimate, leaving his fans feeling truly connected to his music. Well folks, that 2009 came around the corner and sucker punched the living 2008 daylights out of us. Happy New Year to you all ! A very busy one its going to be. Spring 2009 will see the first full length studio album "BELFAST CONFETTI" released Worldwide by Ricky in 4 years. Details about the label and various formats will be announced very soon. A brand new merchandise store is also coming soon. The store will be overseen completely by Ricky and all sorts of different stuff will be available, including custom designs and one off personal orders. All Ricky Warwick Websites will be giving a good old overhaul in the next few weeks to accommodate all of the new going s on and will include the exclusive artwork for the "BELFAST CONFETTI" album. A video has been shot for the title track of the album and will be exclusively posted on the websites soon. And of course there will be lots and lots of touring in 2009. Its with very heavy hearts and immense sadness that we have to announce that our friend and one time manager of the Almighty Tommy Tee passed away very suddenly on the evening of December 23rd. all our thoughts at this time are with his wife, Jube and children Ben, Thomas and Charlie. Tommy managed The Almighty from 1988 to 1993 and even after we parted ways he remained a firm friend throughout. Ricky first got to know tommy when he joined New Model Army as a live guitar player for their world tour back in 1987. Tommy was their tour manager at that time and would later would go on to become their manager. The rest of us were lucky enough to meet him shortly after as, he was one of the main catalists that started what was to become The Almighty. Tommy was one of those people who, when you first met, you liked straight away, he had a huge zest for life, a fantastic work ethic and above all a huge sense of fun. Tommy was manager of The Almighty from day one, when the band first formed, it is fair to say that Tommy was as much an integral part of the band as any of the rest of us. No idea was too big and he instilled a confidence in us that made us all believe that anything was possible. He helped guide the band to from playing to 12 people at our first gig to playing in front of 80,000 people at Castle Donnington and having hit singles and albums. We always, to this day, consider him to be part of the band. He has always remained a loyal and true friend to all of us, a great family man and, above all, a true gentlemen.
